Novel vaccines for horses are designed with veterinarians in mind, combining cutting-edge safety, efficacy

(BIVI), announces the introduction of its Vetera™ West Nile virus family of vaccines, the only vaccines containing the North American Equine E159™ 2005 horse isolate representative of the virus that is most likely to infect horses today.

PROZINC™ (protamine zinc recombinant human insulin) Receives FDA Approval

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (November 12, 2009) – Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI), announces that PROZINC™ (protamine zinc recombinant human insulin) has been approved for veterinary use by the Food and Drug Administration. PROZINC is an aqueous protamine zinc (PZI) suspension of recombinant human insulin that is used to reduce hyperglycemia in cats with diabetes mellitus.

Ingelheim, Germany and St. Joseph, MO (October 26, 2009) – Boehringer Ingelheim, a global pharmaceutical group of companies, together with its U.S. animal health business Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., announced today that it has closed its deal with Pfizer to acquire a significant portion of the Fort Dodge Animal Health business.

Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour Stopping in Central Park to Provide Free Heart Examinations

ST. JOSEPH, Mo., Oct. 1 - This fall, dog owners in New York City will find that getting their pets' hearts checked is a walk in the park. Veterinarians on the Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour will stop in Central Park on October 13 with a soundproof medical unit to perform free heart examinations for area dogs and to answer questions about canine heart disease.

BIVI Aquires Many of Fort Dodge's Products

Ingelheim, Germany and St. Joseph, MO (September 21, 2009) - Boehringer Ingelheim, a global pharmaceutical group of companies, together with its U.S. animal health business Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Pfizer to acquire certain assets of Wyeth Pharmaceutical's Fort Dodge Animal Health business upon the closing of the global Pfizer-Wyeth merger, which is expected to occur early in the fourth quarter.

Midwest Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour to Provide Free Heart Examinations

ST. JOSEPH, Mo., Aug. 17 - Later this month, dog owners in the Midwest will find that getting their pets' hearts checked is a walk in the park. Veterinary cardiologists on the Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour will make stops with a sound-proof medical unit at local parks in St. Louis on August 28 and in Chicago on August 30 to perform free dog heart examinations.

New research efforts focus on lateral infection, ventilation factors and biosecurity

This year BIVI awarded $100,000 to support four separate studies by independent swine researchers and practitioners in their investigation of novel ways to diagnose, control and eradicate this costly swine disease.
