Express® FP 3 VL5 Offers Convenience Plus Prevention of BVD PI Calves

St. Joseph, MO (APRIL 8, 2007) – A single vaccination can now shield calves from three major viral components, as well as Lepto and Vibrio, plus prevent persistently infected (PI) calves due to BVD. Express® FP 3 VL 5 Reproductive Vaccine from Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI), is now available and reduces the number of injection sites, as well as labor costs associated with vaccination and processing.

The Express® FP/Breed-Back® FP family of vaccines is the first vaccine line ever licensed by USDA/APHIS to prevent PI calves. Challenge studies demonstrate persistent infection prevention against four BVD strains, including Types 1a, 1b, and 2.

“Express FP 3 provides a convenient combination for breeding herds that offers early onset of protection against IBR1 and BVD Type 22; and the strongest protection against PI calves on the market,” Judy Myers, Associate Director of Cattle Marketing for BIVI. “In addition to its broad coverage for major reproductive and respiratory diseases, the vaccine comes with a guarantee that covers the cost of a BVD PI calf should one be born into a herd, thereby reducing producers’ risks. Our researchers have worked hard to attain this level of protection and quality for our customers.”

The vaccine meets BQA low-dose guidelines, is administered in 2 mL SubQ doses and is available in 20 mL and 100 mL vials. More information is available at www.productionvalues.com.
