Description

Encephalomyelitis-Influenza Vaccine Eastern and Western, Killed Virus, Tetanus Toxoid. Equi-Flu® EWT contains gentamicin and thimerosal as preservatives.

Equi-Flu EWT is a killed virus vaccine that protects against Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis, influenza, and tetanus.


Uses

Equi-Flu EWT is recommended for vaccination of all types and ages of healthy horses against Eastern and Western Equine Encephalomyelitis, tetanus and as an aid in prevention of Equine Influenza due to strains A1 and A2 viruses.


Warning

This product has been tested under laboratory conditions and shown to meet all Federal standards for safety and efficacy in normal healthy animals. This level of performance may be affected by conditions such as stress, weather, nutrition, disease, parasitism, other treatments, individual idiosyncrasies or impaired immunological competency. These factors should be considered by the user when evaluating product performance or freedom from reactions.


Dosage & Administration

Using aseptic technique inject 2 mL deep IM with a 11/2 inch sterile needle preferably in the hind quarters. For primary vaccination administer a second 2 mL dose in 4 to 6 weeks using a different injection site. Revaccinate annually for protection against tetanus, using a single 2 mL dose. Revaccinate annually and prior to anticipated exposure for maximum benefit against Equine Influenza strains A1 and A2 viruses and Eastern and Western Equine Encephalomyelitis.


Precautions

Store out of direct sunlight at 35° - 45° F (2° - 7° C). Shake well. Protect from freezing. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur following use. Antidote: Epinephrine.
